About the Apprenticeship Program

The Los Angeles County Barber & Cosmetology Apprenticeship Committee has on-site training at AFOC. Before you can enroll, you must attend an orientation meeting at their site, usually held the first Monday of each month. For more information, please call the information line at 213-749-9380.

450 hours plus 3200 hours work experience and 219 hours advanced classroom training

Barber
Course Number: 63-10-80
These competency based courses prepare students for the examination of the State Board of Barber Examiners. The competencies in this course are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards.

Cosmetology
Course Numbers: 68-10-70 and 63-30-80
These competency-based courses cover all practices constituting the art of cosmetology pursuant to Sections 7321 and 7334 of the Cosmetology Act and prepare students for licensing under the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
